Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date. We confirm the current requirement for your nationality in writing with your booking.

Yes. Every tour includes a representative who meets you at the aircraft gate area, assists with the visa and immigration queue, and escorts you to your private vehicle.

The main tourism corridor — Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, the Nile and the Red Sea — is heavily protected and visited by millions of travellers each year. Our guides accompany you at every site, our drivers are vetted and insured, and you have a 24/7 emergency number in Egypt for the entire trip.

Is Egypt suitable for solo female travellers?

Yes, with sensible precautions. Private guiding removes most friction, and we can assign a female guide on request. Loose clothing covering shoulders and knees is comfortable and reduces unwanted attention.

How do you handle hassle from vendors?

Accepted Answer

Your guide manages all interactions at sites and bazaars. There are no forced shopping stops on any Kemet Tour itinerary.

Which currency should I bring?

Accepted Answer

The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the local currency. Euros, US dollars and pounds sterling are easily exchanged at hotels and banks. Cards are accepted in hotels and larger restaurants; carry cash for markets, small cafés and tips.

How much should I tip?

Tipping (baksheesh) is customary. As a guide: 10–15 USD per day for your tour guide, 5–8 USD per day for your driver, and small notes for hotel and cruise staff. Tips are never included in our prices and are entirely at your discretion.

When is the best time to visit Egypt?

October to April offers the most comfortable sightseeing weather, with daytime highs of roughly 22–28°C in Cairo and Luxor. May to September is hot — 38°C and above in Upper Egypt — but excellent value, and we shift sightseeing to early mornings and evenings.

Light breathable layers, a warm layer for winter evenings and Nile cruise decks, closed walking shoes for temple sites, a wide-brimmed hat, high-factor sunscreen, sunglasses and a refillable water bottle. Modest clothing is appreciated at mosques and churches.

No vaccinations are mandatory for most travellers arriving from Europe or North America, but routine immunisations should be up to date. Always check your own doctor's advice before travel.

Is the food and water safe?

Drink bottled or filtered water only, which we supply daily in your vehicle. The hotels, cruise ships and restaurants we use are selected for hygiene standards, and we cater to vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free and allergy requirements when told in advance.

Wi-Fi is available in all hotels and on most Nile cruise ships, though speeds vary on the river. A local SIM or eSIM with generous data costs only a few euros and can be arranged on arrival.

What about photography fees?

Some sites and tombs charge a separate camera ticket, and a few interiors prohibit photography. Your guide advises at each site, and optional tickets such as the Great Pyramid interior can be pre-arranged.
