The Grand Egyptian Museum sits beside the Giza plateau and holds the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world, including the complete Tutankhamun collection.

How long to allow

Three to four hours with a guide for the highlights. Enthusiasts can spend a full day.

Best time to go

Early morning at opening, or mid-afternoon once the tour-bus wave has passed. Pairing it with the pyramids on the same day works well because they are minutes apart.
